The call for Atmanirbhar Bharat is not meant to promote protectionism or isolationism by erecting trade barriers but it seeks to make the Indian economy robust in the long run by scaling up manufacturing, accelerating infrastructure development, attracting investment and promoting consumption led growth. For this to happen in reality, the youth have to come forward and upscale themselves to take up the challenge. The present study tries to assess how ready the unemployed youths are to become self-reliant through a survey among unemployed youth. The findings show that self-reliance can be a boost for the Indian economy and can solve unemployment problems. With adequate amount of loan, subsidies and tax relief from the government, the unemployed youth would concentrate on satisfaction of basic demands of the population.Downloads
