Abstract

Status of women in society keeps on changing with change in era from Vedic to Epic period and from Ancient to British period and even in the modern-day India. Since human rights are women rights hence Constitution of India confers the fundamental rights to women, apart from prescribing the state directives; which are essential to protect the interest of women in certain aspects.

Trio of legislations, Judicial activism and Commitment from society can empower the women in real sense. Judiciary, especially the Apex court of India in number of instances showed judicial activism, and stand by women empowerment by upheld their (women) rights. This article is an attempt to develop an understanding on these subject matters and highlight the way forward to empower the women.
