Abstract

It is partly because of the absence of tax that has allowed the farmers to get rich at the cost of the national exchequer. They are not contributing to the social development in the form of income tax. Agricultural income tax which could have been an important source of revenue has been negligible because of political objections against the removal of the exemption.
