First the reference to NCLT was introduced in Companies Act, 1956 by the Companies Second Amendment Act 2002. These provisions for NCLT were never notified and 1956 Act was thereafter replaced by Companies Act, 2013 which also provided for constitution of NCLT.

Abatement means the act of elimination or nullifying.
