Abstract

SAIL and Tata Steel are two major steel producers of India. Both were hit by the 2008 global financial crisis. While SAIL has emerged out of the situation, Tata Steel has not managed to follow suit. Sale of outperforming assets may unlock value for the latter. The main objective of the study is to predict the financial strength of SAIL and Tata steel for the period of ten financial years beginning 2004-05 to 2013-14. The study also examines the overall financial performance of the companies with various financial ratios.
