Abstract

The issue of the lack of transparency in the working of the DERC as well as DISCOMS is a key issue that has created an atmosphere of mistrust, and the consumers, for various reasons, feel cheated. IN India Power Generation, transmission and Distribution has made significant progress after Independence. In 1947 Power generation capacity was 1,362 MW only and that also primarily by hydro power and thermal power generation plants. Few private utilities were involved in generation and distribution of electrical power.
