Abstract

The latest ruling of a Bench of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal comes as fresh air and gives a boost to the Government of India's efforts to bring home the crime in regular income tax assessments. The appeal was bitterly fought by both sides. The appellant contended that reopening of the assessments was bad. The tribunal found that reopening was done on the basis of information showing that dhupelia was a beneficiary of ambrunova trust.
