Abstract

Strategising cannot be achieved by laying down a Standard Operating Procedure. There can be no strait-jacketed approach. The best results would accrue to that team that has the passion to bring about major improvements. Management of costs can be approached at two levels: Operational Management, and Strategic Management. Measuring the impact of such decisions is best done by seeing the impact on Earnings per share. Both Operational Management and Strategic Management impact EPS, but the effect that Strategic Cost Management has on EPS is much greater than that had by Operational Management.
