Safety Factor (SF) or Margin of Safety engineering (MOS) is a term describing the load carrying capacity of a system beyond the expected or actual requirement. Essentially, the factor of safety is how much stronger the system is than it usually needs to be for an intended load. Many systems are purposefully built much stronger than needed for normal usage. This tendency has become widely popular and started using in several situations. We have identified that this MOS syndrome indeed works well in bridges or buildings but in other areas it is actually causing huge irreparable damages unless properly estimated and cross verified with ingenuity and automationDownloads
