Abstract

Sustainability is and has been for some time now the buzzword for business strategists. This is quite reasonable - given the precarious condition of the natural environment of the earth. With business houses emerging as the major perpetrators to this annihilation, inducting sustainability agenda into their strategic management programme has become imperative, to say the least. This paper attempts a humble study of a leading FMCG major in the world, Unilever, in relation to its sustainability efforts vis-a-vis its corporate social responsibility, briefly highlighting the case as it stands in India, and infers that sustainability in practice results in cascading constructive outcomes.
